Basketball Recap: Clarksdale Takes a Loss

Clarksdale lost against Lanier back in December of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Clarksdale Wildcats received a blow as they fell 70-54 to the Lanier Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 26th).

Clarksdale has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Lanier, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Clarksdale won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Jim Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lanier, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll square off against Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lanier's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups.
