Volleyball Recap: Wetumpka Takes a Loss

Wetumpka was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Stanhope Elmore Mustangs. The Indians were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Wetumpka actually scored more points across those five sets (104-95), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 26-24, 15-25, 14-25, 25-19, 15-11.

Jillian Hand paced Wetumpka's offense, picking up 13 kills. Hand got some help from Cheyenne Boshell and her 28 assists. Hannah Burdett controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

Wetumpka's loss dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Stanhope Elmore, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-14 record this season.

As of now, neither Wetumpka nor Stanhope Elmore have any future games scheduled.
