Volleyball Recap: Palmer Falls Short Against Ranked Soldotna + How To Watch

Palmer faced Soldotna in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Moose fell just short of the Stars by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Stars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 1-0 back in August.

Palmer wouldn't go down easily and took Soldotna into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-16, 18-25, 22-25, 15-13.

Leila Petersen paced Palmer's offense, picking up seven kills. Petersen got some help from Samantha Thomas and her 21 assists. Thomas was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

With the loss, Palmer broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-9. As for Soldotna, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 11-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Palmer beat the Stars by a score of 3-2 on Saturday.
