Baseball Game Preview: Jonesboro Hurricane vs. Cabot Panthers

Jonesboro is 2-7 against Cabot since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Jonesboro Hurricane will venture away from home to face off against the Cabot Panthers at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Jonesboro 2.8, Cabot 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Jonesboro will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Little Rock Southwest on Tuesday. Jonesboro never let Little Rock Southwest get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The Hurricane's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Cabot and North Little Rock meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. Cabot narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past North Little Rock 7-5. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Charging Wildcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Cabot's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Jonesboro, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Jonesboro suffered a grim 13-4 defeat to Cabot when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Jonesboro avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
