Football Recap: College Station Takes a Loss

College Station extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They lost 37-14 to the Anderson Trojans. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why College Station lost, don't look at Keaton Johnson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 69 yards and one score on only seven carries. Johnson's longest rush was for an impressive 52 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. College Station also got help from Kody Ballard, who showed off his sure hands for 82 receiving yards.

As for Anderson, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.3 points on average this season.

Caleb Crenshaw went supernova, rushing for 228 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Crenshaw is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 104 every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cove Darbyshire, who threw for 178 yards and one touchdown.

Coincidentally, College Station and Anderson will both be playing A&M Consolidated the next time they take the field. The Cougars will host the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Trojans will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th.
