Baseball Recap: Leechburg Has No Trouble Against Union Area

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Serra Catholic, Leechburg was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Everything went their way against the Union Area Scotties as Leechburg made off with a 16-1 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Blue Devils needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Chase Henry was a standout: he scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rocco Vigna, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Leechburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union Area only posted an OBP of .182.

The win got Leechburg back to even at 1-1. As for Union Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Leechburg will have a chance to go back-to-back against Union Area: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
