Baseball Game Preview: Coronado Cougars vs. Chaparral Cowboys

Coronado is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Chaparral a five-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Coronado Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Chaparral Cowboys at 3:30 p.m. Coronado will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Coronado is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over The Meadows School on Wednesday. The Cougars not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 3, 2024.

Diego Pena looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Milano Bradley was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Kolten Sagers was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Coronado was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are 4-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Chaparral's offense. They came up short against The Meadows School on Thursday, falling 19-0.

Chaparral saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ashton Coyaso, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Chaparral's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Coronado, their win bumped their record up to 8-15.

Everything went Coronado's way against Chaparral in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Coronado made off with a 27-0 victory. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cowboys turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
