Game recap: Clovis High School Football Team defeats Liberty

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Clovis (Calif.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as Marlon Watkins ran for a touchdown with 5:00 left, bringing the team to victory over Liberty (Bakersfield, Calif.) 20-17.

After taking the lead on a touchdown catch by Hanz Harker, the Patriots went into halftime with a 7-6 lead. The Cougars scored the winning points with a touchdown run by Watkins that came in the fourth quarter.

Despite scoring eight points in the third, Clovis still trailed by three points going into the fourth quarter. But six points in the fourth helped CHS pull out the victory.

The Cougars had given up an average of 17.8 points prior to the contest. Liberty's 17 points were well below its season average of 37.1 per game.

The loss comes after Liberty defeated Centennial 44-7 last week. With the win Clovis extended its winning streak to three games.
