Recap: Marshall Barristers vs. Franklin Panthers
The Marshall Barristers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Franklin, falling 42-6. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Marshall in their matchups with Franklin: they've now lost six in a row.
Jaydan Benavidez threw for 68 yards on only five passes. Isaiah Payan was his top target, picking up 37 receiving yards and no touchdowns.
Eduardo Cuevas was the offensive standout of the match as he threw for 283 yards and three touchdowns on only 18 passes. Jayden Steele was another key contributor, picking up 148 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Marshall now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Franklin, the win was the fourth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 6-2-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marshall will take on Torres at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Torres comes in on a streak of failing to score more than zero points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Franklin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Eagle Rock at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Eagle Rock has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 179 points over their last four matchups.
