Basketball Recap: Panguitch Makes It 15 in a Row at Home

Panguitch came tearing into Wednesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Milford Tigers by a score of 59-51. 59 seems to be a good number for the Bobcats as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Panguitch got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Daxton Miller out in front who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 boards. With that strong performance, Miller is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Remme Chappell, who went 7 for 9 on his way to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and four blocks.

Panguitch was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Milford only racked up 11 assists.

Milford's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sadler Barnes, who posted 16 points and five assists. Barnes' evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kielen Tsosie, who put up 13 points along with seven boards and four steals.

Panguitch pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Milford, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Panguitch will face off against Wayne at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Panguitch's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests. As for Milford, they will take on El Capitan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
