Soccer Game Preview: Savannah vs. Lafayette

The Savannah Savages will venture away from home to square off against the Lafayette Fighting Irish at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Savannah has six straight wins, Lafayette has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

On Friday, Savannah got the win against Chillicothe by a conclusive 6-2. The result was nothing new for Savannah, who have now won 11 contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Lafayette's offense. They came up short against Mid-Buchanan on Thursday, falling 8-0. That's two games in a row now that Lafayette have lost by exactly eight goals.

Savannah pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 32 goals over those six matches. As for Lafayette, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Everything went Savannah's way against Lafayette in their previous matchup on Tuesday, as Savannah made off with an 8-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Savages since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
