Recap: Gridley Bulldogs vs. Corning Cardinals

The Gridley Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 24 points or more this season. They took their match at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 68-40 win over Corning. The win was nothing new for Gridley as they're now sitting on four straight.

It was another big night for Aaron Kullar, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. The matchup was his 17th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Travus Boyd, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten assists.

When it comes to explaining why Corning lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jeff Mendros. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Javier Cayetano was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Gridley is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Corning, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 8-10.

Gridley will square off against Orland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Orland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 622nd, while Gridley is ranked 299th). As for Corning, they will be playing at home against Oroville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Oroville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Saturday.
