The Franklin Wildcats will take on the Chaminade Julienne Catholic Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Franklin is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Clinton-Massie on Monday as they made off with a 22-15 victory. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly seven runs.
Aiden Standifer was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Standifer was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-6 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 11 games.
In other batting news, Franklin got a massive performance out of Connor Monk, who went 3-for-6 with one home run, five runs, and two stolen bases. Those five runs gave Monk a new career-high. Luke Eyink was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Franklin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Chaminade Julienne Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Archbishop McNicholas on Monday, sneaking past 2-1.
Like Franklin, Chaminade Julienne Catholic also got a great game from a two-way player: Isaac Sullivan. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Sullivan has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Sullivan wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Landon Scott, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. Aidan Kohlbacher also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Franklin's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8. As for Chaminade Julienne Catholic, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Franklin has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Chaminade Julienne Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Franklin came up short against Chaminade Julienne Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2022, falling 5-1. Will the Wildcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
