Baseball Recap: Brady Nolen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Festus over Desoto

Festus fell victim to DeSoto and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (1-0), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Dragons earlier this season, when they won 1-0.

Festus saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Nolen, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Festus has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-10-1 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for DeSoto, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 12-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Festus will challenge Vianney at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday. As for DeSoto, they will take on Marquand-Zion at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The last four games the Tigers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
