Softball Recap: Waubonsie Valley Takes a Loss

Neuqua Valley hit Waubonsie Valley with a four-run third inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-1 two weeks ago.

Waubonsie Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sammy Wiertelak, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double was Wiertelak's first of the season. Another was Mila Haskins, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Waubonsie Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Neuqua Valley, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Looking ahead, Waubonsie Valley will challenge Bolingbrook at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Neuqua Valley, they will square off against Naperville Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Redhawks have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
