Volleyball Recap: Cate Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

While Cate's victory against West Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rams had just enough and edged out the Mustangs 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Rams sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Cate who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-16, 23-25, 25-17, 21-25, 17-15.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Deonys Ioane, who had 18 digs, six kills, and one block. Ioane has been hot, having posted six or more kills the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn Hubbell, who had 24 digs and 16 kills.

Cate's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for West Valley, with the loss, they broke their four-match winning streak and moved their record to 15-19.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Cate will take on Granada Hills Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Valley, they are taking a road trip to challenge Olympian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
