Basketball Recap: Oliver Springs' Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Wartburg Central came into Tuesday's contest looking for another win against Oliver Springs, but Gavin Johnson wouldn't allow it. The Oliver Springs Bobcats were the clear victor by a 63-38 margin over the Wartburg Central Bulldogs on Tuesday thanks in part to Johnson, who went 8 of 19 en route to 26 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Oliver Springs' points.

The team also got some help courtesy of JaQuan Benton, who posted eight points and ten rebounds. He is becoming a predictor of Oliver Springs' success: when he posts at least eight boards the team is 7-3 (and 3-8 when he doesn't).

With the victory, Oliver Springs broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-11. As for Wartburg Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.

Oliver Springs wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 59-54 defeat against Harriman on the 30th. As for Wartburg Central, they are taking a road trip to face off against Coalfield at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
