Preview: Wadsworth Grizzlies vs. Medina Battling Bees
The Wadsworth Grizzlies will be playing at home against the Medina Battling Bees at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Wadsworth at home against Brunswick as the team secured a 45-14 win. With Wadsworth ahead 28-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Meanwhile, Medina entered their tilt with John Marshall with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Medina simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat John Marshall 70-40 at home. Given Medina's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 66th, while John Marshall is ranked 488th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Danny Stoddard was a one-man wrecking crew for Medina as he threw for 308 yards and six touchdowns while completing 72% of his passes. Stoddard hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Wojciak, who picked up 54 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Wadsworth's victory was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.6 points per game. As for Medina, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Wadsworth ended up a good deal behind Medina when the teams last played back in September, losing 40-23. Will Wadsworth have more luck at home instead of on the road?
