Rush-Henrietta has gone a perfect 9-0 against Gates Chili recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Royal Comets will head out on the road to face off against the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. Rush-Henrietta is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Rush-Henrietta and Webster Schroeder meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Royal Comets came out on top in a nail-biter against the Warriors, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Royal Comets have posted against the Warriors since May 9, 2022.

Mason Davey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Oliver Wright was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Matthew Turner also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Gates Chili hadn't done well against Penfield recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Spartans came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 8-5. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Spartans as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Gavin Sweeney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaylen Givens, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Bruce Hanna, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Rush-Henrietta's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Gates Chili, their record is now 5-8.
Everything went Rush-Henrietta's way against Gates Chili in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Rush-Henrietta made off with a 7-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Royal Comets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
