On Saturday, Father Ryan faced Pope John Paul II in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Father Ryan Irish snuck past the Pope John Paul II Knights with a 53-49 victory. This was a revenge game for the Irish: when they faced off against the Knights last Friday, they had to take a 66-56 defeat.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Osby Cavin, who went 5-for-10 en route to 15 points and four steals. The contest was Cavin's third in a row with at least 15 points. Trey Pearson was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists.

Father Ryan is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. Pope John Paul II's loss dropped their record down to 27-4.
