Softball Recap: Blacklick Valley Comes Up Short

Blacklick Valley extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 4-12 in the process. They came up short against the Windber Ramblers, falling 19-0. If the Vikings were looking for revenge after losing 9-7 to the Ramblers when the teams met back in May of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Windber, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games.

For Windber's part, they let Rylee Baer and Angel James run wild. Baer went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while James went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave James a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaylie Gaye, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles.

Coming up, Blacklick Valley is taking a road trip to face off against Shade at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight. As for Windber, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-3 win against North Star on the 6th.
