Soccer Game Preview: Benson vs. Omaha Northwest

The Benson Bunnies will head out on the road to square off against the Omaha Northwest Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Benson's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over Bellevue East. That's two games straight that Benson have won by just one goal.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of David Hei, which was the first he's scored this season.

Meanwhile, Omaha Northwest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Omaha North who was credited with the victory. The Vikings got it done in the shootout by posting six goals to Omaha Northwest's five. One reason for the loss might be Omaha Northwest's aggressive play style: four Omaha Northwest players were handed yellow cards.

The win made it two in a row for Benson and bumps their season record up to 2-3. As for Omaha Northwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Benson suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Omaha Northwest in their previous matchup back in April of 2021. Can the Bunnies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
