Basketball Game Preview: Jasper Wildcats vs. Evansville Reitz Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Jasper Wildcats face off against the Evansville Reitz Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday... The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Jasper has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Evansville Reitz will arrive with eight straight wins.

On Saturday, Jasper opened the new year with a less-than-successful 58-49 loss to Princeton. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while the Tigers are ranked 30th).

While Evansville Reitz didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They managed a 56-50 victory over Heritage Hills on Friday.

Evansville Reitz's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0. As for Jasper, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Jasper beat Evansville Reitz 49-38 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Does Jasper have another victory up their sleeve, or will Evansville Reitz turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
