Basketball Game Preview: Compass Academy vs. Brownfield Cubs

Compass Academy will take on the Brownfield Cubs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Compass Academy will bounce into Friday's game after beating Stanton, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Compass Academy walked away with a 41-29 victory over Stanton on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for Compass Academy.

Meanwhile, Brownfield waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They had just enough and edged the Mustangs out 77-74.

Brownfield is also on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.5 points per game. As for Compass Academy, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Compass Academy was taken down by Brownfield 79-45 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Compass Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
