Baseball Recap: Taos Comes Up Short

Taos lost against Moriarty on Saturday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Tigers took an 18-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pintos. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jordan Tafoya and Orion Salazar did some serious damage despite the final result: Tafoya scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Salazar scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Tafoya has become a key player for Taos: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Miguel Garcia was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Taos' loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Moriarty, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Taos will take on Grants at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Moriarty, they will face off against Los Alamos at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
