Football Recap: Woodstock Victorious

The Woodstock Blue Streaks beat the Ridgewood Rebels 21-14 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Streaks.

Woodstock had a senior duo take command as Caden Thompson threw for 126 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 73.9% of his passes and Matthew Cress picked up 56 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Ridgewood's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Angelo Vitale, who threw for 196 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 55 yards. 84 of Vitale's passing yards were hauled in by Alex Hrabchak, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Woodstock's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Ridgewood, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Woodstock and Ridgewood will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Blue Streaks are set to challenge their familiar foe Harvard at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Ridgewood will face off against rival Riverside-Brookfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
