Football Recap: Maddox Haake and Jayton Jones Secure Win for Meridian

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Silver Lake, Meridian was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Dorchester Longhorns 47-21. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Longhorns: they've now won five in a row.

Meridian was led to victory by Jayton Jones and Maddox Haake. Jones rushed for 177 yards and four touchdowns on only nine carries, while Haake gained 227 total yards and three touchdowns. Jones has become a key player for the Mustangs: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 2-3 otherwise.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Meridian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 322 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Meridian's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Dorchester, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

As of now, neither Meridian nor the Longhorns have any future games scheduled.
