Northeast Jones waltzed into their game  on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They came within a single  run of losing the streak, but they secured  a   6-5 W against Mendenhall. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  win Northeast Jones has posted  since April 15, 2024.
 Caroline Myrick made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She  struck out seven batters over  seven innings while giving up  four earned  (and one unearned) runs off   four  hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  Hannah Harrison was  excellent,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-4.  Starr Dorsey also deserves some recognition as  she  hit her first  double of the season.
Northeast Jones' victory was  their fourth straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 17-3-1. The  home  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mendenhall,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 11-7-1.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northeast Jones will take on Greene County at 6:30  p.m.  on Friday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average (the Tigers 3.5, the Wildcats 4) so any  runs scored will be well earned. As for Mendenhall, they will square off against Brandon at 6:30  p.m.  on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 9.1  runs per game this season.
