Baseball Recap: Ruidoso Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Ruidoso, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. Everything went their way against the Capitan Tigers on Tuesday as the Ruidoso Warriors made off with a 19-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Joel Ortega was a standout: he scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Carson Stratton was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Ruidoso always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Capitan only posted an OBP of .417.

Ruidoso's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Capitan, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ruidoso will head out to challenge Robertson at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Capitan, they will venture away from home to face off against Estancia at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
