Basketball Recap: Karam Kang's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hughson over Ripon Christian

Hughson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Ripon Christian Knights, falling 63-42. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 954th, while the Knights are ranked 326th).

Hughson's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karam Kang, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 14 points. Jamesson Davis also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Leading Ripon Christian to victory were Walker Postma and Amos Cady. Postma posted 20 points, while Cady had 17 points. That's the most points Postma has posted since back in December of 2024. Chase Bunnell was another key player, putting up seven points.

Hughson's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Ripon Christian, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 18-5.

Hughson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 74-51 defeat against Escalon on the 4th. As for Ripon Christian, they will face off against Ripon at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Ripon Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.
