Soccer Game Preview: Lake Park vs. Willowbrook

The Lake Park Lancers are taking a road trip to square off against the Willowbrook Warriors at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lake Park has four straight victories, Willowbrook has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Lake Park's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Wheaton-Warrenville South 3-0. Lake Park's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three matchups.

They hit Wheaton-Warrenville South with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Rodrigo Bautista, Jose Lozano, and Andrew Donato.

Meanwhile, Willowbrook's game on Friday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 3-1 to Addison Trail. While losing is never fun, Willowbrook can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 241st, while Addison Trail are ranked 86th).

Lake Park's win bumped their record up to 12-3-3. As for Willowbrook, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.

Lake Park took their victory against Willowbrook when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 6-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
