Softball Recap: Edison Drops Highest Score of Season Against Corona Del Mar

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Edison). Everything went their way against the Corona del Mar Sea Kings on Thursday as Edison made off with a 19-1 win. The Chargers haven't had any issues with the Sea Kings recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Elina Garcia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Aubrey Catron was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Izabella Wetzel, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Edison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Edison picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 7-8. As for Corona del Mar, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Edison will take on Dana Hills in a tournament on Saturday. As for Corona del Mar, they will challenge Estancia at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Estancia has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something Corona del Mar will no doubt try to take advantage of.
