Basketball Recap: Southern Guilford Takes a Loss

Southern Guilford lost against Southwest Guilford last Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Southern Guilford Storm came up short against the Southwest Guilford Cowboys, falling 58-32. While losing is never fun, the Storm can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 469th, while the Cowboys are ranked 165th).

When it comes to explaining why Southern Guilford lost, don't look at Courtney Griffith. Despite the final result, she posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlee Slaughter, who put up 11 points and seven rebounds.

Southern Guilford's loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Southwest Guilford, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.

Southern Guilford wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 54-48 defeat against Western Guilford on the 28th. As for Southwest Guilford, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-43 loss against Oak Grove on the 28th.
