Basketball Recap: Millsap Takes a Loss

Millsap was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 65-23 defeat at the hands of the Comanche Indians. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1173rd, while the Indians are ranked 230th).

Millsap's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Cori Ground, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, and Madi Pitchford, who posted no points and five boards. Ground has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Morgan Kimbrell was another key player, putting up four points.

Even though they lost, Millsap smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Millsap's defeat dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Comanche, they moved to 11-6 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Millsap will be playing in front of their home fans against Breckenridge at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Comanche, they will venture away from home to challenge Peaster at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Peaster's defense has only allowed 20.1 points per game this season, so Comanche's offense will have their work cut out for them.
