Luling and Nixon-Smiley are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. Luling will challenge Nixon-Smiley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Luling is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Luling came up short against Karnes City on Friday, falling 14-4. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly ten runs.

Luling saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kade Samuelson, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. That hit was Samuelson's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Nixon-Smiley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 4-1 to Stockdale.

Julian Amaya was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Amaya was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases.

Nixon-Smiley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Luling, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.

Luling skirted past Nixon-Smiley 8-7 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Luling since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
