Football Recap: Gogebic [Johnston/Wakefield] Piles Up the Points Against Rapid River + How To Watch

Everything came up roses for the Gogebic [Johnston/Wakefield] Miners against the Rapid River Rockets on Friday as the squad secured a 62-6 victory.

Gogebic [Johnston/Wakefield] had a senior duo take command as Leland Hollenbeck rushed for 84 yards and five scores and Owen Miljevich rushed for 85 yards and one TD. Miljevich was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 56 yards. Jayden Verrett also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.

Gogebic [Johnston/Wakefield]'s defense made their presence known, laying out the QB six times. Matthew Switzer was especially locked on to Rapid River's QB and sacked him twice. Switzer is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last five games he's played dating back to last season. Verrett got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Gogebic [Johnston/Wakefield]'s win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Rapid River, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gogebic [Johnston/Wakefield] will head out to square off against Ishpeming at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rapid River, they will venture away from home to take on Lake Linden-Hubbell at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
