Basketball Game Preview: Shafter Generals vs. McFarland Cougars

Shafter and McFarland are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Shafter Generals will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the McFarland Cougars at 6:00 p.m.

Last Friday, Shafter came up short against Taft and fell 43-35. The contest marked the Generals' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, McFarland entered their tilt with Chavez on Thursday with 11 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 12. They strolled past the Titans with points to spare, taking the game 68-49. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 488th, while the Titans are ranked 1130th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

McFarland is also on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.9 points per game. As for Shafter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9.
