Volleyball Recap: Westlake Takes a Loss

Westlake was the 2-0 winner over O'Connor when they last played one another back in August of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. The Chaparrals fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 2-1 on Saturday.

Despite the loss, Westlake saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kyrksen Cook had four digs and three aces. Cook is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sunny McWilliams, who had ten digs.

Westlake's defeat dropped their record down to 15-5. As for O'Connor, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westlake will challenge Cedar Park at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for O'Connor, they will take on Sotomayor at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers are facing the WILDCATS at the right time seeing as the WILDCATS are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
