Baseball Recap: Susquenita Blackhawks vs. East Juniata Tigers

Susquenita was the 12-2 winner over East Juniata when they last played one another last Monday, but their luck changed this time around. The Susquenita Blackhawks fell just short of the East Juniata Tigers by a score of 13-12 on Monday. Even though they lost, Susquenita's still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.4 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Derek Gibney was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Gibney was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, a triple, and a run.

In other batting news, Drew Deaven was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

Juniata will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Susquenita surely won't give up without a fight. As for East Juniata, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Halifax at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. East Juniata is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
