Prairie Central hasn't had much luck against Tolono Unity recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Hawks will be playing at home against the Rockets at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Prairie Central barely beat Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Falcons on Thursday.
Dixie Hogan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on eight hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Sam Slagel was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Miranda Hari was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Prairie Central lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more home runs.
Meanwhile, Tolono Unity had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They never let the Bunnies get on the board and left with a 13-0 win.
Danika Eisenmenger looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk).
On the hitting side, Tolono Unity got a massive performance out of Sophia Beckett, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lindy Bates, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Prairie Central's victory bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Tolono Unity, their win bumped their record up to 16-3.
