Basketball Game Preview: Ashley Screaming Eagle vs. South Lenoir Blue Devils

Having just played yesterday, the Ashley Screaming Eagle will get right back to it and host the South Lenoir Blue Devils at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Ashley is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Laney on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Ashley took a blow against Laney, falling 75-46. While losing is never fun, the Screaming Eagle can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 108th).

Ashley's defeat came about despite a quality game from Nate Jarrell, who posted 13 points.

Meanwhile, South Lenoir had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They skirted past North Lenoir 70-68. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Devils have posted since December 12, 2023.

South Lenoir's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 6-7. As for Ashley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
