Basketball Game Preview: Grand Island Islanders vs. Gretna East Griffins

The Grand Island Islanders will take on the Gretna East Griffins at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Grand Island is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52 points per game this season.

Gretna East is hoping to do what Buena Vista couldn't on Saturday: put an end to Grand Island's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Grand Island walked away with a 49-36 win over Buena Vista.

Babur Choul continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6 of 14 on his way to 20 points and three steals. His evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Coslor, who posted 11 points.

Meanwhile, Gretna East faced Elkhorn North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Gretna East took a 50-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Elkhorn North. The matchup marked the Griffins' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Gretna East and nudges their season record down to 7-5. As for Grand Island, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
