Basketball Game Preview: Union County Fightin' Tigers vs. Keystone Heights Indians

Union County hasn't had much luck against Keystone Heights recently, but that could start to change on Friday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 6:00 p.m. Keystone Heights took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Union County, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with nine losses in a row, Union County turned things around against West Nassau two weeks ago. Everything went their way against the Warriors as they made off with a 55-32 victory. The Fightin' Tigers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Among those leading the charge was Heaven Scott, who went 7 for 13 on her way to 17 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabrielle Moore, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 12 points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Keystone Heights was not able to break out of their rough patch two weeks ago as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 58-43 to North Marion. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 550th, while the Colts are ranked 259th).

Union County's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-9. As for Keystone Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

Union County came up short against Keystone Heights in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 42-29. Can Union County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
