Alpine's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Wink Wildcats 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bucks have posted since August 15th.

Alpine had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 14-25, 25-22, 25-18, 15-12.

Alpine was led to victory by Karolina Castillo and Naida Morris. Castillo had 27 digs and four aces, while Morris had ten digs and two aces. That's the most aces Castillo has posted since back in August of 2024. Zariah Galvan was another key player, getting 17 digs and one assist.

With the win, Alpine broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-9. As for Wink, their loss dropped their record down to 16-13.

Alpine and Wink could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Bucks (ranked 649th) will meet Lubbock Christian (ranked 153rd) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Wink will take on Andrews at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (512 vs. 137).
