Softball Game Preview: Scott Skyhawks vs. Logan Wildcats

For the second straight game, Scott will face off against Logan. The Skyhawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Scott came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Logan, falling 10-2. The Skyhawks haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

For Logan's part, Myleigh Adkins made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Adkins has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashlin Brumfield, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Lacy Curry was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three runs.

Logan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive games.

Logan is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Scott, their loss dropped their record down to 16-12.
