Basketball Game Preview: Saint Francis Lancers vs. Junipero Serra Padres

Saint Francis is on a three-game streak of home losses, Junipero Serra a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Saint Francis Lancers will welcome the Junipero Serra Padres at 7:30 p.m.

Saint Francis came up short against St. Ignatius College Preparatory on Tuesday, falling 59-39. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 422nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 23rd).

Meanwhile, Junipero Serra came into Tuesday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Bellarmine College Prep by a score of 56-44 on Tuesday.

Saint Francis' loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Junipero Serra, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 10-5.

Saint Francis ended up a good deal behind Junipero Serra in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, losing 62-46. Can Saint Francis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
