Softball Recap: Allendale Comes Up Short

Allendale fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Covenant Christian on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 12-11. The Falcons' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

Kenedie Curtis stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Tessa Gunter, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Allendale's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Covenant Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Covenant Christian will host Allegan at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in the Chargers' favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home while the Tigers have been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. Allendale will be paying especially close attention to Covenant Christian's game: after Covenant Christian faces off against Allegan, they'll take on Allendale again at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
