Baseball Recap: Washingtonville Comes Up Short

Washingtonville extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 6-9 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Minisink Valley Warriors. The Wizards were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 15-11.

Washingtonville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Tesseyman, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

As for Minisink Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games.

On Minisink Valley's side, Christopher McCauley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. McCauley has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Washingtonville didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 20-0 win against Monticello on the 20th. As for Minisink Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 9-2 loss against Valley Central on the 19th.
