Volleyball Recap: Payton Michel Key Part of Team Effort in Wildcats Win

Miller City won the last time they faced Elida and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 3-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Wildcats have posted against the Bulldogs since August 22, 2017.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Miller City was: they took every set by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-10, 25-15.

Miller City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Payton Michel led the charge by getting ten digs and four aces. Michel has been hot for a while, having also posted 23 or more assists the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Katem Schroeder, who had ten digs and two aces.

They weren't the only good server: Miller City was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 19 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Miller City's record now sits at 2-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Miller City will take on Antwerp at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Elida, they will challenge Van Wert at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Bulldogs' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
