After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pine-Richland, Hempfield Area was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Stagg Chargers with a sharp 7-1 victory. The Spartans not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 1, 2024.
Dylan Firmstone made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. Firmstone was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double.
In other pitching news, Josh Cayer looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jacob Jasiewicz, who scored three runs and stole two bases. Another player making a difference was Evan Dunlap, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
